Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to what people ask most. For step by step setup, see the Guide.

Is Teyvat GPS free?

Yes. The map, live tracking, auto-collect and account sync are all free to use.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Everything runs in your browser tab. The optional Shortcuts extension adds hotkeys for auto-collect and follow, but the map works fully without it.

Can I get banned for using it?

Teyvat GPS never touches the game. It doesn't read game memory, inject code or send inputs to the game. It only looks at the pixels of the screen you choose to share, the same way a streaming app would. We can't speak for HoYoverse, but nothing in how it works interacts with the game client.

Is my screen recorded or uploaded?

No. The shared video is processed entirely inside your browser to find your position. No frames or screenshots ever leave your device.

Do I have to share my screen?

No. The map, filters and your collected list all work on their own, like any interactive map. Sharing your screen is only what makes your position follow you as you play.

Which browsers are supported?

Live tracking needs a desktop browser that supports screen sharing, such as Chrome or Edge. The pop-out map that stays on top of the game works in Chrome and Edge only.

Does it work on mobile?

You can browse the map, filters and your collected list on a phone. Live tracking needs to share the screen you play on, so it works on a computer.

Does it work if I play with a controller?

Yes. Choose your input under Playing with in Options, and the setup takes it into account.

Which maps are covered?

Teyvat, Enkanomiya, The Chasm, Sea of Bygone Eras, Ancient Sacred Mountain, Temple of Space and Frost Moon, including underground caves with their own floor maps.

Where is my collected progress saved?

In your browser by default. If you sign in with Google, it's saved to your account and follows you across devices.

Can I bring my progress from another map?

Yes. The Transfer button imports collected markers from AppSample or the HoYoLAB interactive map, and can send them back to HoYoLAB with one code.

It can't find my position. What should I do?

Teleport to any waypoint or statue first, since that's where tracking starts. If that doesn't help, the troubleshooting section of the Guide walks through the fixes in order.
